Found in the following products: Nail polish, nail polish remover, hair dyes, petrochemical solvent and paint thinner

Chemical purpose: Toluene is used in nail polish to hold color and give a smooth finish on the nail.

Potential harmful risks:
Skin irritant: Toluene is a known skin irritant in the EU.
Organ system toxicity: High inhalation of toluene can cause dysfunctions in the central nervous system. Low exposure to toluene can cause temporary headaches, weakness, nausea.
Reproductive & developmental toxicity: Toluene is believed to be a human developmental toxicant. Expectant mothers exposed to high concentrations of toluene could result in developmental damage to the fetus.
